Exhibits

The museum houses permanent exhibits in the south room and temporary exhibits in the north room.

The board is currently redoing the permanent exhibits in the south room to tell "The Story of Williamston".

There are two temporary exhibits in the north room.

The Williams Family

The museum recently received eight boxes of artifacts belonging to the founder of Williamston, James Miles Williams, and his family. Included in the exhibit is the letter Williams received from the U.S. Post Office in May 1842 establishing a post office in Williamston with Williams as the first post master. The exhibit also contains china the family brought with them from their home in Batavia, New York as well as photographs, a shawl, and miscellaneous documents.

Williamston Masonic Lodge Exhibit

Many interesting articles from the Williamston Masonic Lodge No. 153 are on display.

Masonry was founded in medieval times when stonemasons built awe inspiring Gothic structures. Today Masons use tools of the old craft - the square and compass, trowel, plumb and level - as symbols to teach their ideals. A Mason is oath-bound to build his life and character with the care and precision that stonemasons used to construct the cathedrals and temples centuries ago.
